What is the Buxus® App?

Buxus® is a free app designed to improve communication and make vital information regarding pipeline and other critical infrastructure facilities available to key stakeholders. The app is funded by pipeline and facility operators, making it free to download for users. The goal of Buxus® is to increase awareness of facilities in their community by providing on-demand information and emergency preparedness tools.

How Buxus® Helps Different Users

The Buxus® app provides a number of tools and resources tailored to specific users, including:

  • Emergency Responders: Can view integrated pipeline maps based on their GPS location or a specific address, access emergency contact information, and find details on products being transported. Buxus® also offers hazard identification and response guidance, as well as new training modules. Responders can also use the app to request and report information to specific pipeline operators.
  • The Public: The public can use Buxus® to access important information about pipelines and facilities in their communities. Additional information highlights efforts by operators to protect the integrity of pipelines and facilities, the steps to be taken by the public to help prevent incidents from occurring, as well as  what steps to take in the event of an emergency.

Buxus® is designed to facilitate two-way communication, and provide a means for continuous improvement, beyond what is possible with traditional methods like paper mailings. The app offers a forward-thinking approach that advances with technology to meet the growing demands on responders and new regulatory requirements.
